Margaret Rosser

The influence Miss Margaret Rosser (1882 - 1967) had on the Chapel, the area and the Welsh language was very substantial.

In the chapel 1941 Centenary Book Margaret Rosser is listed as one of the organists:-
MARGARET J. ROSSER was selected instead of Mrs. Thomas in 1902, and until now she has continued with that duty. She undertook a great deal of work in the field of music and literature in the area. She has led the Band of Hope for a long period, and continues to do so. She started a Children's Choir here which was very succesful under her direction when she reached for the prize against choirs from Caerdydd, Blaenrhondda and Nantyffyllon.
In 1918, she was received into the Gorsedd of the Bards, under the name ‘Megan Illtyd’. She composed numerous dramas for primary school children, and published books for use by the Sunday Schools. In 1931 she enjoyed the privelege of addressing the Children's Service at the Undeb in Aberteifi. She also won the prize for the best Essay on the 'History of the Chapel' during the ministry of Parch E. B. Powell. She spent her whole life in the field of education and at present she is Headteacher of Ysgol y Gwindy, Caerffili.
